The World Travel Guy
David began traveling in 2016, and Iceland was the first destination where he traveled internationally and alone. With a limited budget, he traveled and filmed all of the striking locations in Iceland and in the same year, drove around Colorado for 2 months, and did the same thing. David has a blog, The World Travel Guy, and a YouTube page,
in which he posts all of his travel videos. He has become a prominent figure in the business, with more than 10 million views, and with mentions on well-known travel websites, such as UNILAD Adventure and Must Do Travels. He is currently living with his wife and travel companion, Intan, in Bali. We chose him as an outstanding personality in our topic because we believe he encompasses written and audiovisual content, which enriches his persona and makes him stand out from many other blogs and YouTube accounts.
Spin the Globe
This blog was created by Sylvia Longmire. The Air Force veteran was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2005 and since then, has refused to be defined by her condition. She has also refused to let her wheelchair imprison her, which is why she has visited 54 countries: 34 of those by herself, and 43 as a wheelchair user.
Through her blog, she wishes to share information about the accessibility of the destinations she chooses to travel to, and to inspire others to follow her steps. Also, Sylvia only writes about the destinations she has personally visited, so you can be sure that her information is accurate and reliable. She has been featured in The New York Times, New Mobility magazine, Lonely Planet and The Washington Post. We chose Sylvia's blog as some of the best work in our topic because she represents an idea and a reality that is not always spoken about: traveling with a disability. With her blog, she opens the door to other travelers in the same or similar situations as her, and inspires them to live the life they want to live, refusing to be defined by something they cannot control.
Down to Earth
This Netflix docuseries features the actor Zac Efron and the wellness expert Darin Olien. The pair travels to different parts of the world in order to find healthy, sustainable ways to live. Nowadays we consume products without really thinking about it twice, and in this fast-paced world our lives can be greatly harmed by our habits. Zac and Darin travel from Iceland to Iquitos looking for ways in which they can live better lives, and by taking us on their journey we get to travel and learn along with them. We chose this docuseries as one of the best work in our topic because it presents the audience with content that is extremely relevant due to our current world situation. In these uncertain times, we must start thinking about our health and wellness, and about the health and wellness of the planet, and the pair shed a light on subjects that can help us reach that goal.
